I came across a big lump of fishing nets

Today was simply a wonderful day. The calmest day to date.

It was also the day when I came across a big lump of fishing nets under which there was a whole ecosystem of marine animals. It was so compact that it would undoubtedly have supported my weight. It’s easy to see how animals can get trapped in this tangle, and that’s why there are so many initiatives to remove these traps. Ocean Voyages Institute of San Francisco One is one of these initiatives. Before I set off, they gave me two GPS trackers to attach to nets like this one. I am happy to have contributed to the fact that soon, employees of the Ocean Voyages Institute will locate the GPS tracker and remove the net.

But a very strange thing happened, in fact after 14 years of honourable career, today my compass broke down. It’s as if it suddenly demagnetized, from one second to the next and now it’s not showing signs of life. Fortunately, I have one integrated into my GPS, so there’s no danger of getting lost!

Unfortunately, due to the break for the fishing net and many others I took to get out of the hot sun beating down on my head until late afternoon, I didn’t row a great distance today, but it was really a very positive day that I concluded with a dip in the ocean.

The forecast, alas, is for the weather to get worse starting tomorrow evening, but the memories of today will also help me keep my spirits up over the weekend.
