For many years, Folco has been walking barefoot. He walked barefoot in China, too.

So I’ve asked him why, what’s the point of it?  And he said to me:

Generally, we walk barefoot to simplify, to return to the earth, to feel it with our hands down.

It is nice to walk on the grass, then even better is to climb up a mountain with stones and sticks – to understand its character. In the city we already walk barefoot more reluctantly because (apart from the people’s eyes) the asphalt is more monotonous and “dirty”, they say. Now, let’s imagine walking barefoot along a plastic-covered beach! The truth is that this is beautiful. You feel present in the moment. You are not running away, you are not trying to distance yourself from the garbage, but you are in it, and in a sense, you are part of it. And it’s true. After all, whose is all this colorful stuff? It is ours! At a certain point, we liked it; we wanted it so badly. Now we have thrown it away.

Like the antennas of an insect, your feet try to understand: what is this thing? What are your intentions?

After long days or even years in the river and under the sun it became soft, almost tender. It is also sad that we have not found a better solution for her.

For many years, Folco has been walking barefoot. He walked barefoot in China, too.
